All surgeons are board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Surgery.
Hazem A. Elariny, MD, PhD, FACS
Dr. Elariny is the first surgeon to perform Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass for morbid obesity in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland Areas. Dr. Elariny has an excellent success rate in terms of patient outcome and satisfaction. Procedures are done laparoscopically, with the fewest incisions safely possible.

Nicholas Tapazoglou, MD
Dr. Tapazoglou is the newest addition to our team. After attending Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and graduating with honors, he pursued his medical degree from the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He finished his general surgery residency at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and completed his training in advanced laparoscopic, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery at the INOVA Fairfax Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery Fellowship under Dr. Elariny in 2013.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that our Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery Fellowship Program at INOVA Fairfax Hospital has matched Dr. Calvin Steeve David from Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He will complete the program from July 2013-June 2014.

F. Alex Soliman
Alex received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Washington State in 1976. In 1980 she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington. In one of her many roles, Alex functions as the Case Manager and Patient Care Navigator. In conjunction with our surgeons, she coordinates clinical care, secures insurance approvals, and assists patients in preparing for their surgery day. She is also a certified Nutritionist and provides pre and post-operative education for patients. Alex is the go-to person for most issues including insurance requirements, surgical and hospital fees, financing, office certifications, and pretty much everything else.

Since he has joined our team many years ago, Curtis has been an incredible asset and patient liaison. He is an all-around fantastic guy and manages office flow, appointments, medical records, and reception services
